Reiki at Work
Reiki is subtle, powerful, transforming. The following email was sent to me by one of my Reiki students.
Hope you are doing well. I am enjoying the beautiful seasons here in western NC. Just wanted to drop you a note about some special healings. As you know , I am working in a 12 bed inpatient hospice facility. Our patients are very acute and many times after admission are actively dying. I have another nurse who is a natural healer and has studied some energy work in the past. We had a pt who had an unusual cancer dx and it had spread to the bone. Mets to the bone is probably one of the most painful situations with cancer pts. This man was on massive, I mean massive amounts of morphine to control his pain. One night I started to Reiki him and she was with me. I asked her to put her hands on his throat chakra and guess what, as we stood , his moaning stopped and his respirations decreased significantly. When we stopped he slowly went back to his prior state. It was a special experience for both of us. Another experience happened to me the other night. I was taking care of a woman who was actively dying, she had strokes and could not speak, was pretty much non-responsive yet would open her eyes with a distant gaze. I put my hand on her crown chakra, she seemed to almost, be looking in my direction, I told her it was ok to close her eyes and sleep. Her respirations were slightly elevated and I left my hand on her head offering Reiki. Then I looked at her and told her it was ok to go. I stayed with her and 10 minutes later she was gone!! I opened the window for her :) Just wanted to let you know how special Reiki is to me in my work.
