Using Reiki on Animals
One of my students, Sherri Cappabianca, wrote this to me............
I decided to do Level 2 in Feb. 2007, so that I could not only increase the “healing power” for the animals, but also to do distance work on animals that for whatever reason didn’t want me to touch them. Since then, I’ve been sending daily to animals of all sorts (and even people too J) - from such remote animals as polar bears and baby seals and the people that hunt them so horrendously, to my own husband and dog. At the end of my volunteer sessions with the greyhounds, I generally sit in a spot in the kennel and send to all the dogs at once. It’s amazing to see the calmness and peace that comes over the entire kennel of dogs. And I take that away with me as well, which makes me a better person.
Almost a year ago, I was asked by a woman named Barbara, the president of the local Golden Retriever rescue if I would work on their “mascot” – a dog named Monroe who was at least 16, but not yet ready to “pass”. She thought Reiki would help him break the blockage that seemed to be keeping him here. She wanted him to know it was alright to go. He was all skin and bones; I’ve never seen anything like it. Even though his body was deteriorating, his mind was still present. It was another life changing event for me, more powerful than I can explain – I sat on the floor with Monroe for about an hour and a half and did Reiki all over his body. He just kept taking it in. Barbara was amazed that Monroe let me touch him for so long; usually he didn’t allow strangers to do that. Equally amazing was the reaction of all the other animals in the house, other dogs, cats and a couple of guinea pigs. They all settled down in a wide circle around me as I worked on Monroe. As I left their house, I was in tears – not from sadness, but just from the power of the experience. Barbara called me a week later to say that Monroe had passed. Still today, I deeply feel that incredible experience.
