A Dog Loves Reiki
Chico and his popped knee cap
For about three weeks Chico suffered from what was diagnosed as a luxating patella (popped knee cap), and the vet recommended extensive (4 hour) surgery, to grind the bone and make the groove deeper for the knee cap to sit in. I was going to do this as Chico was not using the leg at all. While he didn't seem to be in pain or uncomfortable, watching him was painful for me. He could only use three legs and was confined to the rugged area in my small den. He missed sitting up on his favorite loveseat and couldn't do the stairs in and out of the house. He could run a bit, but tired easily using just the three legs. He seemed a little depressed.
The weekend prior to surgery we visited Harmony Hill and I learned Reiki (Level 1) from Chris. While there I started to practice on Chico and while his spirits lifted immediately I didn't see much improvement in him using his leg. When we got home on Tuesday, he did start to use it a bit when I let him out in the yard to go to the bathroom. I continued to Reiki him and he really seemed to love it, in fact, would get next to me roll over and extend his leg for Reiki'ing (he even did this while at Harmony Hills). Wednesday he was running around on all fours until he would lift the injured leg to go to the bathroom and then he would not put it back down. At this point I was struggling with whether to go ahead with the surgery or not, because he was improving! He still was not doing the stairs nor was he enjoying the loveseat he missed so much. I decided to give it one more day with Reiki and prayer. Thursday he was so much more improved with mobility and putting his leg up and down, I could not believe it. (Well I could, just saying....lol) Driving to work I still struggled with the issue of surgery, and admittedly some small amount of doubt remained, when I heard the voice of my God say...."you entrusted me with your son, but you will not with your little dog?". It was like a slap in the face. I got to work, called the vet and cancelled the surgery.
When I got home that evening, I walked in and was greated as usual by Miss Bean, but Chico was not with her. I was looking around wondering where he could be, and caught a movement up on the loveseat! It was HIM! In his favorite place, wiggling with joy and excitement! I was floored! He was so proud and as happy as a clam, showing himself off. I almost cried. All I could do was thank God for his recovery and for helping me to trust in Him and through the Reiki helping me to heal Chico. His has been fine, and happy, ever since. Running, playing, enjoying his loveseat, using the stairs (although at times he stops and lets me carry him up just to enjoy being spoiled....lol). You would never know he had suffered for three weeks and a bit more before I learned Reiki.
